Flora R. Barker, 91, of Millville, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2020, at the Great River Care Center in McGregor, Iowa.

She was born April 25, 1928, on Famechon Ridge in Eastman Township. She attended eight years of country school and her favorite teacher was Frances Dobbs. She was an adventurous teen, who boarded a train in Prairie du Chien and traveled to New York City to seek employment. Flora married Retus Barker on March 9, 1957, in Galena, Ill. They lived most of their lives at their rural home in Millville. Retus preceded her in death on April 6, 2007. She enjoyed living in the country, gardening and baking wedding and birthday cakes. Flora loved to read, play euchre and dirty clubs, and occasionally join her friends on trips to the gaming boat to dine and play the penny machines.

She is survived by her children, Bette (Dennis) Carl, Bud Bunders, Connie (Bob) Schmitz and Christine (Cal) Radtke; along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Wisconsin and Colorado.

A private family funeral service is planned with interment in the Evergreen Cemetery in Prairie du Chien. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.
