The administrative team appreciates your flexibility and patience as we plan to meet students’ needs during the school closure. We recognize that parents have questions about graduation, the class trip, and prom. We also understand that parents and students are looking forward to these occasions. Though we do not have definitive answers at this time, Superintendent Wahls and I are considering multiple options for moving these events forward.

The administration is following the guidance set forth by the Governor and Iowa Department of Education. In the likely event that school is closed the remainder of the year, the administration would like to see prom, the senior trip, and graduation take place this summer if possible.

However, social distancing and restrictions due to COVID-19 could carry through the summer months. We are assessing these circumstances daily and planning with the most current information available.

Furthermore, awarding credit, assigning grades, and keeping all students on track for graduation has been a topic of discussion. The administration recognizes that this situation is beyond our students’ control, and we do not want to hold students back from pursuing their post-secondary plans. We are weighing options on how to move all students forward, especially seniors, in the least restrictive way possible.

We will continue to prioritize the health and safety of our students, parents, employees, and community as we make these decisions. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
