Burnell loved to hunt, trap, fish and mushroom hunt until the last several years of his life. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, who always brought him joy and a big smile when they would give him hugs and kisses. Burnell also had a wonderful memory and enjoyed reminiscing and sharing stories with family and friends about his years on the farm as a boy and about his adventures as a young man. Some of his favorite pastimes in his later years were small group Bible studies, having coffee and breakfast with his close friends, playing pool with the guys, attending church on Sunday mornings and gathering at the gazebo with neighbors to visit. Burnell had a generous, loving spirit and always had a big smile and a kind word for everyone he met.
