Wauzeka-Steuben announces 2020 valedictorian and salutatorian

Valedictorian Jacob Reichmann and Salutatorian Ravyn Krachey

Jacob Reichmann has been named the valedictorian and Ravyn Krachey the named the salutatorian of the Wauzeka-Steuben High School Class of 2020.  

Jake plans to attend UW-Madison next fall to major in biology. He plans to pursue a career in the medical field. 

Ravyn plans to attend North Iowa Area Community College in the fall to major in secondary education. She will also play softball at the collegiate level. 

Jake is the son of Jason and Kirsten Reichmann. He has been very active throughout his high school career while excelling academically. Jake has achieved distinguished/high honors all four years, earning himself an academic letter and four pins for his excellence in the classroom. Jake has challenged himself by taking multiple Advanced Placement and college level courses while in high school. Due to his overall character, he was selected by the Wauzeka-Steuben faculty and staff to represent the district as their Badger Boys State delegate and DAR Good Citizen. 

Furthermore, Jake has been actively involved in a number of extra-curricular activities over the past four years. He has participated in cross country, basketball, and baseball throughout high school and has earned multiple varsity letters in each. Jake has been recognized with numerous accolades in each for his athletic talents and leadership abilities, including all-state, all-conference, sportsmanship, MVP and captain designations. Jake was a three-time state qualifier and conference runner of the year in cross country. He has been an instrumental part of several conference/regional championship teams in both cross country and basketball. He has also participated in American Legion baseball outside of school. 

In addition, Jake has been very active in numerous clubs and organizations, including Hornet Council, Math Team, Spanish Club, Yearbook, Newspaper, Science Club, HOSA, and the National Honor Society. He has served in many leadership positions within these organizations. Jake has also served as a PALS mentor, teacher assistant, and tutor for younger students in the district. Likewise, Jake has volunteered his time to assist local law enforcement by participating in the Teen Court program. 

Over the years, Jake has given back to his community through volunteerism. He has assisted with blood drives and canned food drives, done yard work for the elderly, umpired for the summer rec program, and worked youth basketball tournaments. During his senior year, Jake played Scar in the district’s production of “The Lion King.” Outside of school, he has worked as a lifeguard at Barefoot Bay. 

Jake would like to recognize and thank his “family for their support and guidance throughout the years.” 

Ravyn is the daughter of Jeremy and Lisa Krachey. Ravyn has also been actively involved throughout her high school career while excelling academically. She has earned distinguished/high honors all four years and as a result, has received an academic letter and four pins for her excellence in the classroom. She has challenged herself by taking several Advanced Placement and college level courses. 

Ravyn has been actively involved in a number of extra-curricular activities over the past four years. She has been a three-sport athlete throughout high school, participating in volleyball, basketball, and softball all four years and earning multiple varsity letters in each. Ravyn has been recognized with numerous accolades in each for her athletic talents and leadership abilities, including all-conference, MVP, and captain designations. Ravyn was selected as conference player of the year in softball her junior year. In addition, she has been an instrumental part of several conference/regional championship teams in both basketball and softball. 

Ravyn has been very active in numerous clubs and organizations, including the National Honor Society and the Hornet Council; she is currently serving as president in both. Likewise, she is also this year’s class president. Ravyn has served as a PALS mentor and teacher assistant for younger students in the district. She has also been active in the Spanish Club, Math Team, and Yearbook. 

This year, she played Sarabi in the school’s production of “The Lion King”. Ravyn is also a Silver Cord recipient, as a result of volunteering her time to assist local organizations, such as the Salvation Army, Wauzeka Lions Club, Wauzeka Summer Recreation program, and the American Red Cross in their efforts to help others. Outside of school, Ravyn has worked at L&M’s BP. 

Ravyn would like to recognize and thank her “parents and grandparents for everything they have done for [her] over the years.”
