Kenneth J. Birrenbach, 83, of Prairie du Chien, died peacefully Monday, May 4, 2020, from cancer, at his daughter’s house in Cottage Grove, Minn. 

Ken was born on Sept. 21, 1936, in Le Sueur, Minn., to John and Ruth (Viehman) Birrenbach.

Ken was united in marriage with Dorothy (Schwarz) on Feb. 28, 1956. He was an avid fisherman, gardener and woodworker. He worked as a chemical engineer at 3M Company for over 30 years. After retirement, he ran a sewing machine repair business for another 20 years. He was an active member of the Prairie du Chien United Methodist Church, and participated in Volunteers in Missions for over 15 years. He loved square dancing and playing bridge with Dorothy, and he also enjoyed camping, scuba diving, traveling and playing games with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Ken is survived by his children, Linda (Peter) Staloch of Cottage Grove, Minn., Julie (Ben) Baker of West Salem, Tim (Brenda) Birrenbach of Clinton Corners, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Myrtle (Bill) Tyra; and five nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; his parents; and his brother, Harold (Joanne) Birrenbach. A Celebration of Ken’s life will be held at a later date. Private family interment will be at Natural Path Sanctuary, Verona. Arrangements were done by Mueller-Bies Funeral Home, ofin Roseville, Minn.
