Hillary Day

By Ted Pennekamp

Hillary Day has been hired by the Prairie du Chien School District to be the new elementary principal at Bluff View School. Day, the current school counselor at B.A. Kennedy, will officially begin her new duties as principal on July 1.

“My goals for Bluff View Elementary are to continue to build on the good work that they do,” said Day. “We will be working hard on continuing a culture of caring and ensuring that all students are getting not only a great education, but also the social/emotional support they need to be great citizens. I have an advantage having been in the district for the past five years knowing what high expectations our staff has for the students, staff and community and I am excited to be a part of a team striving for excellence.”

Day lives in Fennimore with her husband Brian and their two children, Libby and Graham. She originally hails from Benton and went to UW–Platteville for her undergraduate in English and then her masters in school counseling. Day then got her principal certification from Viterbo College.

Day’s first job was the 4K-12 school counselor at North Crawford. She was there for 11 years, and then took a year off to be at home with her son. Day has been at B.A. Kennedy for the past five years as the school counselor.

“I have been fortunate in my career to work with some amazing administrators who have allowed me the opportunity to build my leadership skills and to mentor me so that I am ready for this next opportunity,” said Day.

In her free time, Day said she enjoys reading, crocheting, sewing and spending time with her family.
