Betty Larson Seitz, 87, of West Union, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2020, at Good Samaritan Society in West Union. Betty Elaine Larson was born in Elgin on Nov. 19, 1932, to Gladys and Ernest Larson. She received her education and graduated from the Elgin Public School. Betty was united in marriage with Earl Seitz on March 18, 1951, and lived in Elgin most of her life, moving to West Union after her husband died.

Betty was a member of Faith and Family Fellowship Church and served in many ways, including teaching Sunday school for many years in West Union as well as Elgin Lutheran and serving as missions chair and church janitor. Her faith was very important to her and she shared it with many throughout her life. Betty enjoyed reading, taking pictures, listening to Christian tapes and records, playing board games with her sisters, friends and family, doing puzzles and writing poems. She loved having grandchildren stay and they have many wonderful memories of grandma.

Survivors include four of her children, Karen (Kevin) Schmitt of Solon, Jim (Celeste) of Albert Lea, Minn., Ron (special friend Kathy) of West Union and Diane (Ed) Boltz of Sumner; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her son, Jack; husband, Earl; and many other family members that have gone on before her.

Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will not be having a public memorial at this time. A private family service will be held.

Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Elgin is assisting the family.
