Sit back and relax and sample a variety of regional wines and beers at the Lazy River Beer and Wine Festival. The annual event will be held this Saturday, June 27, from noon to 4 p.m., on the Marquette riverfront.

The McGregor-Marquette Chamber of Commerce, which sponsors the event, will be implementing physical distancing measures to help assure the safety of both attendees and vendors.

Five wineries are slated to participate this year, including Marquette’s own Eagles Landing Winery. Other attendees are PromiseLand Winery from Guttenberg, Jennings Winery from Strawberry Point, Empty Nest Winery from Waukon and Winneshiek Wildberry Winery from Decorah.

Four Iowa breweries—McGregor’s Old Man River, Decorah-based Toppling Goliath, Amana’s Millstream Brewing Co., and Lake Time Brewery from Clear Lake—will sample out their beers.

Wineries will be able to sell bottles of wine right at the event, allowing people to enjoy more of their favorites that afternoon or take home a bottle of wine or two for later. While breweries aren’t able to do so, many of the beers are available for purchase locally.

In addition to the wine and beer, Lazy River attendees can try unique foods from By the Spoonful, Spring Lake Inn and Kymar Acres’ Kymar Cafe.

The band The PeOple will provide interactive musical entertainment throughout the event.

Although there will be covered seating available, attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to spread out on the riverfront.

To purchase tickets to the Lazy River Beer and Wine Festival, visit www.mcgreg-marq.org, call the McGregor-Marquette Chamber office at (563) 873-2186 or stop by the office in downtown McGregor. Tickets can also be purchased at the gate.

Each ticket provides the attendee with a food voucher and 15 samples of the wines and/or beers of their choice, as well as a complimentary Lazy River glass and bag.
