Marcus Eugene Schlueter, 92, of Ryan, passed away on Monday, Sept. 7, 2020, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. 

Visitation was Friday, Sept. 11, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester and also before services at the funeral home.

Funeral services were Saturday, Sept. 12, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ryan, conducted by Reverend Gabriel Anderson.

Interment with military rites was at Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Ryan

Marcus was born Dec. 2, 1927, in Guttenberg, the son of Henry and Eleanora (Miller) Schlueter. Marcus was raised in the Guttenberg and then the Dundee area where he attended school. He served honorably in the Army during the Korean War. 

On Jan. 4, 1975, Marcus was united in marriage to Joyce (Wenger) Hand at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Monti. Over the years Marcus farmed in the Ryan area and remained active in farming until he was 90. 

Marcus was a long time member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, The Catholic Order of Foresters and The Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the American Legion, and The Lions Club. He enjoyed gambling, playing cards with the neighbors, traveling and especially visiting Dorinda in Texas. 

Marcus is survived by his wife, Joyce; step-daughter, Dorinda Hand of Pasadena, Texas; brother, Francis (Theresa) Schlueter of Ankeny; sister-in-law, Phyllis Schlueter of Masonville; brother-in-law, Bill (Bonnie) Wenger of Ryan; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Viryl, Gerald and Jerome (Martha) Schlueter and one sister, Bernice Schlueter.
