Community Vitality team announces goals
The City of Guttenberg has been evaluating strategies to develop and support businesses, encourage entrepreneurs, increase the tax base, and attract and retain young families.
Earlier this year, a Community Vitality Advisory Team made up of representatives from the City of Guttenberg, the Guttenberg Chamber, the Guttenberg Economic & Industrial Development Corporation, the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital, and the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque, was formed. Based on input from additional community leaders, they have set the following goals to support their strategies in the coming year.
Goal 1: Retain and support existing businesses and develop and recruit new businesses.
The Community Vitality Team will work toward achieving this goal through the following action steps:
•Provide support for existing businesses by keeping abreast of business resources, partnerships and other opportunities.
•Develop incentive package to attract and assist new businesses.
•Conduct a survey to determine what kind of businesses and services residents would like to see added to our community.
•Connect annually with major employers and small businesses to share ideas, aspirations and challenges and determine ways to offer support.
Goal 2: Community beautification and design coordination.
The Community Vitality Team will work toward achieving this goal through the following action steps:
•Support the Schiller Street Project Committee.
•Improve trail connections throughout the community.
•Coordinate beautification efforts along Highway 52.
•Support Healthy Hometown biking and walking audit initiatives.
•Enhance and celebrate our parks, residential and business neighborhoods.
