Debra Jean Ward, 62, of Wauzeka, passed away Sunday, Nov. 8, 2020, with her children at her side. Deb had shown great strength in her fight with cancer, and now she is able to rest. 

She was born May 12, 1958, in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Duane and Maxine (Lathrop) Oswald. Deb married David Ward on Nov. 24, 1979, at the United Methodist Church in Wauzeka. She worked for many years at Monona Wire Corporation and Prairie Industries, and she always took pride in the quality of her work. Deb appreciated tradition, nature, and loved to pull for an underdog story. She was happiest surrounded by family, especially on holidays. Her strong spirit will live on and she will be missed.

Deb is survived by her children, Joshua (Rebecca), Nicholas (Jodi), and Lacey; siblings, Diane Mullikin, Karen (Brian) Dombeck, Cheryl (Dave) Slaght, and David Oswald; grandchildren, Liliana and Hazel Ward; sister-in-law, Page Oswald; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, David; parents, Duane and Maxine; grandson, Dean Ward; brother, Dennis Oswald; and brother-in-law, Larry Mullikin. 

Visitation for friends and family will be Thursday, Nov. 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel in Prairie du Chien. A private family service and burial in the Wauzeka Cemetery will be held immediately following.
