On Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 9:32 a.m., the Prairie du Chien Police Department, with the assistance of the La Crosse County Sheriff’s Office, executed a fourth residential search warrant in the township of Medary La Crosse. This search warrant was also related to the numerous thefts within Prairie du Chien and Crawford County that occurred over the past month. During the search of the residence, investigators located stolen firearms and ammunition.

The owner of the residence, Jonathan Baum, 25, of La Crosse, was subsequently arrested and transported to the La Crosse County Jail, where he was charged with possession of stolen property and felon in possession of a firearm.

As a result of the arrests and search warrants served the week of Nov. 2, many items of stolen property have been recovered. There are still items that have not been recovered and the police department will continue to work diligently to make that happen for the victims of these crimes.

This investigation is continuing and additional charges and additional search warrants are possible, said Police Chief Kyle Teynor.
