Judy L. Hurda, 68, of Wauzeka, passed away Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020, at the Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, with her loving family by her side. She passed away unexpectedly due to medical complications combined with an unfortunate accident. 

She was born July 14, 1952, in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Lyle and Mary (Wagner) Chunat. She married Larry Hurda on April 24, 1971, at Sacred Heart Church in Wauzeka. Judy worked at Advance Transformer in Boscobel and for Wauzeka Public Schools before starting farming with her husband in 1981. Judy was an active member of the Wauzeka community, was involved in the Wauzeka Lions Club and the Wauzeka Learning Center (coffee club). Some of her greatest joys were crafting with her husband, spending time with her grandchildren and mushroom hunting. 

Judy is survived by her husband Larry; her children, Brandy (Dave), Sandy and Jason (Amy Welsh) Hurda; her mother, Mary Chunat; her sisters, Jeri (Mike) Gillitzer and Joan (Paul) Peloch; her grandchildren, Jenna (John) Lyne, Kace (Ana) Wagner, Morgan and Cameron Hurda; along with her great-grandchild, Hudson Lyne. 

She was preceded in death by her father and a special nephew, John Peloch.

A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, Nov. 28, at Sacred Heart Church at 11 a.m., Rev. Rajan Anandan officiating with burial in the Wauzeka Cemetery both in Wauzeka. Friends may call on Friday, Nov. 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien. Please join the family for burial services following the funeral. CDC guidelines will be followed and will require face masks and social distancing for all services.
