Dorothy A. McCormick, 96, of Harpers Ferry, Iowa, died Monday, Dec. 7, 2020, at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien.

Dorothy was born June 2, 1924, in McGregor, Iowa, the daughter of Otto and Lottie (McMillan) Duball. She graduated from McGregor High School in 1942, and then worked for the telephone company in McGregor. On Jan. 8, 1945, she married Emmett Joseph McCormick at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in McGregor. Dorothy was a member of St. Pius Cherry Mound Catholic Church, where she was active in the Rosary Society. She was also active with the McGregor Historical Society. She loved being in the kitchen baking, cooking, and reading recipe books. She always made sure to have a good meal and baked goods ready for anyone helping on the farm or stopping by for a visit. She especially enjoyed playing cards with the Golden Girls and looked forward to her monthly get-togethers with her friends Kay, Linda and Mary.

Survivors include her children, Don (Sharyn) McCormick, Tom (Beth) McCormick, and Judy (special friend Dennis) Jones, all of Harpers Ferry; seven grandchildren, Janelle (Paul) Snitker, Jolyn (Kurt) Philipp, Rebecca (Tony) Seitz, Korine (Kenny) Schmeichel, Kendrin (Ross) Geerdes, Kyle (Jennifer) McCormick, and Kale (Kenzie) McCormick; 12 great-grandchildren, Cierra and Jaydon Snitker, Brenner and Ashlyn Latham, McKynlee Philipp, Ashlyn Seitz, Lottie and Breckin Schmeichel, Sullivan and Wilder Geerdes, Ryker McCormick and Shaylee McCormick.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 11, at 10 a.m. at St. Pius Cherry Mound Catholic Church in rural Harpers Ferry with Fr. Sean Smith and Fr. John Moser officiating. Burial will be held in the church cemetery.

In consideration of concerns regarding COVID-19, social distancing and wearing of a mask is required. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the St. Pius Cherry Mound Cemetery Fund.
