The MFL MarMac boys basketball team defeated Kee 68-57 on Dec. 15, improving its overall record to 2-3.

The biggest quarter of the night was the first, as the Bulldogs jumped out to a 21-8 lead. By halftime, it was 37-23. Kee cut into the advantage in the third quarter, with a 16-12 run, but couldn’t overcome the early deficit.

The Bulldogs out-shot the Hawks by 12 percentage points in the game—48.9 percent versus 36.7 percent. The teams made the same amount of shots, at 22, but MFL MarMac was able to hit that mark in 15 fewer attempts.

Kee had the most trouble containing Bulldog freshman Wyatt Powell, who unloaded 29 points. He was 9-13 from the field, for a 69.2 percentage, and knocked down three of five attempts from behind the arc. His stat line also included two rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Another MFL MarMac freshman, Carver Blietz-Bentien, had a huge night as well, completing four of eight shots for 10 points. He grabbed a team-high 13 rebounds, for his first double-double, in addition to picking up three steals and two assists.

Cayden Ball tallied 10 points, two assists and a steal, while Gavin Meana had eight points, two steals, one rebound and one assist. Colin Moses earned six points in the game, to go with six rebounds and an assist.

After an 0-3 start, the victory over Kee gave the Bulldogs their second win in a row. They’ll try to keep that momentum going this week, wrapping the 2020 portion of the schedule with a Dec. 22 home match-up against Central.
