Harville homicide case continues, new status conference scheduled
By Ted Pennekamp
The case continues for a 29-year-old Prairie du Chien man who faces charges in the death of a town of Eastman boy. A status conference for Chase Harville was held via video conference the afternoon of Jan. 15 in Crawford County Circuit Court.
At the conclusion of the status conference, Judge Robert VanDeHey set another status conference for Feb. 19 at 2 p.m. in Crawford County Circuit Court. The case is being continued for further discussion.
It was noted that if Harville’s case were to go to trial, the trial would probably be for five days. Nothing regarding the length of any such trial has been set, however, and the matter is still up for possible consideration at a later date.
It was also noted that Harville has had another change of address. He is now being housed in the Oneida County Jail in Rhinelander, Wis. He previously was being held at the Dodge County Correctional Institution in Waupun, Wis.
Harville is charged with first degree reckless homicide, with a repeater modifier, in the July 10 death of a 3-year-old boy. The boy was under Harville’s care at a residence in Eastman Township.
Separate cases
In two separate cases, Harville is also facing charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor battery, with a modifier of domestic abuse.
