Kevin Francis Meder, 60, of Guttenberg passed away on Monday, Feb. 15, 2021, at his home. 

Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home assisted the family. There will be no services at this time due to COVID. 

Kevin was born Sept. 30, 1960, to John “Jack” Meder and Eileen (Wegmann) Meder in Guttenberg. He graduated from Guttenberg High School in 1978. 

He worked at Trademark Homes, Nordic Forge, as a barge hand, as an independent contractor and in Texas he rebuilt diesel engines for big rigs.

Kevin married Patty Slaughter on Sept. 29, 1990, at St. Paul Evangelical Church in McGregor. The couple had three children, a boy and twin girls. 

He loved his dog, a boxer mix named Tuka, the Mississippi River, boating, playing cards, western movies, pumpkin pies, and in his youth was an avid hunter and fisherman; he was also known to walk many a mile hunting morel mushrooms.

Survivors include: his son, Bobby-Joe Meder of Marquette; daughter, Amanda (Garrett) Halsted of Marshalltown; daughter, Sandra Gavin of DeKalb, Ill.; grandchildren, Payton Bassett and Maverick Halsted; step-grandchildren, Henry Halsted and Ehyris Halsted; sister, Sharon (Rick) Wittman of Guttenberg; sister, Sandy Meder of Friendswood, Texas; brother, Ken Meder of Lake Ozark, Mo.; sister-in-law, Monica Meder of Elkader; nieces, nephews and friends.

Those preceding Kevin in death include his parents and brother, Steven Meder.
