Mary Kay Roessler

Mary Kay Roessler, 71, of Cross Plains, formerly of Prairie du Chien, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2020, at her home in Cross Plains. 

She was born July 22, 1948, in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Burdette and Mary (Brendemuehl) Yager. She married Charles Roessler, who later preceded her in death. She worked as a baker for many years in Prairie du Chien. 

She is survived by her son, Kevin Dodd; her daughter, Robin Dodd Wilson; her brothers, John (Pat) Yager, Thomas Yager, Tracy Yager, and Todd (Leslie) Yager; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Wauzeka-Steuben referendum to determine future district operation

The Wauzeka-Steuben School District is prepared for an April 7 referendum vote, asking voters to allow the district to exceed the state revenue limit in order to maintain operating the school for three years.

She was born April 6, 1967, in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Arthur and Carolyn (Winchel) Conley.

Thomas H. Richter

Thomas H. Richter, 76, of Fennimore, passed away unexpectedly on Friday morning March 27, 2020, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. 

He was born on Dec. 17, 1943, in Prairie du Chien, the son of Elgie and Lucille (Crubel) Richter. 

Tom was united in marriage to Sharon Bierman on Aug. 3, 1963, in Cassville. He enjoyed the outdoors, sailing and target shooting.

Crawford County discourages non-essential travel out of county

Cindy Riniker, Crawford County health officer, strongly recommends everyone to postpone or cancel personal travel, which is considered non-essential, outside of Wisconsin and outside of Crawford County until further notice. Documented cases and widespread transmission of COVID-19 are growing rapidly here in Wisconsin as well as nationwide and internationally.

Consider becoming a COVID-19 volunteer

Crawford County Emergency Management posted on its Facebook page Monday that it is looking to compile a list of volunteers willing to assist in the COVID-19 response (should they be needed).

People with prior health care training are encouraged to join the list as well.
