Prairie Wrestlers Statebound


Prairie du Chien state qualifiers Colten Wall, Matt Rogge, Blake Garcia, Traeton Saint, Nick Rogge and Stephen Ronnfeldt will be representing PDC wrestling at the Kohl Center starting Thursday evening at 7 p.m.

Blake Garcia works hard in controlling his Monroe opponent. Garcia would win by major decision, 9-0.

Nick Rogge dominates his Wisconsin Dells opponent with a double arm bar in his quarterfinal match. Nick would win by major decision, 11-0. In the finals, Nick would beat Max Barreau of Lodi 6-1 for a sectional championship.

Blackhawks qualify six for State Wrestling Tournament

The Prairie du Chien Blackhawk wrestling team once again continued to make history. This time, by advancing six individuals to the State Tournament to be held in the Kohl Center in Madison from Feb. 22-24.

Richland Center was the host of a WIAA Division 2 Sectional on Saturday, Feb. 17. Traeton Saint and Stephen Ronnfeldt will be making return trips to state, with a few teammates joining them. The top three finishers in each weight division earned trips to the state meet.

Prairie du Chien’s Mark Pedretti was one of four coaches who were inducted into the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame on Feb. 10.

Pedretti enters the WBCA Hall of Fame after constructing and guiding one of the most dominating programs in the state.

Truck shears off pole

On Sunday, Feb. 11, at 11:04 a.m., the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a truck versus power pole in Marietta Township on Hilldale Road near Sunny Crest Lane.

An eastbound 2001 Ford pickup, owned by Scott Folbrecht and operated by 16-year-old Kaleb Folbrecht, both of Wauzeka, lost control and sheared off a  power pole. There were no injuries.

Power was only disrupted to one set of buildings. The road was blocked for approximately an hour. The vehicle had heavy damage. The accident remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were the Boscobel Fire Department and Lomas Electric.
