The Southwest Wisconsin Technical College campus in Fennimore was closed Wednesday, Nov. 1, after what SWTC officials called “a direct threat to campus safety.”

William Howell, 42, of Livingston, was arrested for disorderly conduct after the reported threat resulted in the closing of the campus, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the sheriff’s office, Howell became angry at Facebook likes of his children Tuesday evening by a SWTC student, who Howell believed was having an affair with Howell’s estranged wife.

After sending his estranged wife Facebook and text messages through the night, including a threat to assault the SWTC student, Howell confronted his estranged wife Wednesday around 7 a.m. and tried to prevent her from taking their children to school that morning, according to the sheriff’s office.

Fennimore police and Grant County deputies responded to the threat, according to the Southwest Tech website.

Losing a loved one is never easy, whether it is an expected or unexpected death.

“Death is something we will all face and have to go through at some point in our lives,” said Kristin Infield, of Cassville, a registered radiologic tech at Gundersen Prairie du Chien Clinic.

She knows the pain of losing loved ones all too well. In March 2014, Kristin’s husband, Todd, an attorney in Lancaster, collapsed after his right carotid artery dissected and caused a stroke. He died a few days later on March 3, just days shy of his 45th birthday. To add to the pain, Todd’s father had passed away unexpectedly just three months earlier.

“Into the Woods” may not be as well known as some of the musicals of the Prairie du Chien Drama Hawks’ past, but the fairy tales that make up the story are as classic as it can get. Cinderella, Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood and Jack and the Beanstalk are the familiar plots, while the story of The Baker and His Wife will be the thread that intertwines all the Brothers Grimm and Charles Perrault fairy tales together.

“Into the Woods,” by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine, was actually made into a Disney movie adaptation, starring Meryl Streep, in 2014. But it never rose to the level of recognition some feel it deserved. The musical was also produced on Broadway in the late 1980s.

“It’s funny, but a little dark,” laughed first-year Director Eric Amweg. “By intermission, we get to ‘happily ever after.’ After intermission, a lot of stuff goes awry. It’s like a fairy tale soap opera. Everything does end up the way it’s supposed to end.”
