Funeral services were Thursday, Jan. 25, at the church, conducted by Rev. Noah Diehm.

Vivian M. Hickey, 91 of Cedar Rapids, died Jan. 7, 2018, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring. Teahen Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.

Dennis E. Randall

Dennis Eugene Randall, 76, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, at his home.

Services will be private.

Dennis was born on Oct. 17, 1941, to Gilman “Honey” Randall and June (Brady) Randall in Guttenberg. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School, and later served in the U.S. Navy. He married Rebecca Kulper in 1963, and was blessed with three children. On Jan. 15, 2008, he remarried to Sarah Crabtree.

Antique autograph book returns to Guttenberg

Chamber banquet celebrates local businesses

The Guttenberg Chamber of Commerce held its annual membership banquet on Monday, Jan. 15, at the Guttenberg Community Golf Club. Approximately 50 members attended the event, which was catered by Kaffee 1858. Chamber president Kevin Hennessey welcomed attendees and began the evening with a year in review.

Arlene L. Thein

Arlene Louise Thein, 89 years, seven months and 16 days old, left her earthly home to be with the Lord’s family in Heaven on Jan. 10, 2018. Arlene was a valiant warrior for five years in her battle with multiple myeloma, surviving unsuccessful chemo attempts, and managed well with Dr. Schultheis steadfast care and support. He often told her she was an amazing woman whose body, "90 going on 70", never shrugged or failed until a second pelvic injury and pneumonia overwhelmed her immune system and she passed of complications of multiple myeloma.

Mary Jane Francis (Meyer) Steger, 89, of Elkport, died peacefully Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, at the Central Community Hospital in Elkader surrounded by her family.

Visitation was Wednesday, Jan. 10, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Garnavillo and before services at the church.

Funeral services were Thursday, Jan. 11, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Garnavillo, conducted by Marvin Bries.

Edward "Ed" Kenneth Hanson, 77, of Flint, Mich., died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, at McLaren Hospital in Flint, Mich., of natural causes.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 19, at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Clarksville and one hour before services on Saturday.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 20, at Immanuel United Church of Christ with burial in Lynwood Cemetery, both in Clarksville.

Renee Wiedman

Renee Wiedman, 88, of New Lenox, Ill., formerly of Guttenberg, passed away peacefully Jan. 7, 2018, with her family by her side.

Services were held Saturday, Jan. 13, at Peace Lutheran Church, New Lenox, Ill.

Renee was born in Guttenberg on Sept. 1, 1929. She graduated with a nursing degree from the University of Iowa and then later married Jerome Wiedman.
