Community Vitality team announces goals

The City of Guttenberg has been evaluating strategies to develop and support businesses, encourage entrepreneurs, increase the tax base, and attract and retain young families. 

Earlier this year, a Community Vitality Advisory Team made up of representatives from the City of Guttenberg, the Guttenberg Chamber, the Guttenberg Economic & Industrial Development Corporation, the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital, and the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque, was formed. Based on input from additional community leaders, they have set the following goals to support their strategies in the coming year.

Reece Joseph Klink, 72, of Guttenberg, was suddenly called home to his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 25, 2020. 

Due to COVID-19 concerns there will be a private family service and interment.

Arrangements were handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg.

Gilda L. Miller

Gilda Lavonne Miller, 92, of Colesburg, died Friday, Sept. 18, 2020.

Graveside services were Friday, Sept. 25, at the Brown Cemetery, Colesburg. 

Arrangements were handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg.

Gilda was born on Jan. 4, 1928, in Guttenberg, the daughter of Ben and Ona Kulper.

Thalia E. Sadewasser

Thalia Eileen Sadewasser, 63, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, Sept. 18, 2020. She battled cancer for the past three years.

A gathering to celebrate her life was held Saturday, Sept. 26, at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City, where a time of sharing was led by Rev. Dr. Barrie Tritle.

Clayton County is utilizing the same polling place locations as the previous General Election for the 2020 General Election. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. – 9 p.m.

City council reviews updates on projects

The Guttenberg city council heard updates on several city projects at its monthly meeting on Sept. 14. Mayor Bill Frommelt led council members Austin Greve, Fred Schaub, Virginia Saeugling, Jane Parker and Mick Pierce through the agenda. Also present at the council table were City Manager Denise Schneider and City Attorney Michael Schuster.

German Band to perform in Ingleside Park
