Ariel Endsley and Jody Klingman accepted the Event of the Year award for the Volga City Bump n Run Races.

The Kerns family was awarded Industry of the Year for the Edgewood Locker.

The Clayton County Development Group (CCDG) annual meeting was held at the Lakeside Ballroom in Guttenberg on July 19. CCDG recognized community leaders, lenders and business owners. Special guest Aaron Detter, the data analyst with Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission, shared the housing needs assessment data that has been collected in Clayton County over the past nine months.

William 'Bill' Howe

The soul and spirit of William “Bill” Henry Howe departed his earthly body, at his home, on Friday, July 22, 2022, with his late life companion and family by his side. Bill was extremely active at the age of 99 until a fall resulting in a concussion and complications hastened his passing. Bill set a personal goal of reaching 100 years of age and he had a fair chance at it, if not for his fall.

Margaret F. DesJardin

Margaret Frances DesJardin, age 102, of Grass Valley, Calif., passed away July 11, 2022. Born Margaret Burckart in February 1920, in McGregor, she was married to Myrel DesJardin for more than 63 years. Together, they raised five sons, Donald, Gerald, Richard, Lawrence and Philip.
