Donald A. Hackett

Donald A. Hackett, age 76, of Marquette, passed away Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Dodgeville, Wis., on June 13, 1946, the son of Aaron and Veronica (Zabel) Hackett. Don moved to Prairie du Chien, Wis., with his family, where he grew up and went to school. Don married the love of his life, Trudy Ferguson, on Aug. 20, 1966, at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien. He worked as a foreman at Isabella Construction Company before going to work at Prairie Beer Distributing Company for many years.

John H. Nikolai, born in 1940 in Moline, Ill., passed away at home suddenly at age 82. He is survived by his beloved wife Mary Fran of 56 years, their children Timothy, Kenneth and Patrick and daughter-in-law Brenda, brother Robert, nieces and nephews Cathy and Jim Marks, Teresa Buchholz, Peggy and Rich Kuhlman, David and Kate, Phillip and Maggie and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in passing by his parents, Joseph and Martha, and sister-in-law, Susan.

Janarius “Jan” Tschirgi, 83, of Edgewood, passed away Friday, Dec. 9, 2022, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood. He was born Aug. 2, 1939, in Elkport, to Albert Joseph and Pearl Anna (Peuker) Tschirgi. Jan graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School.

Jerry Everitt, 81, of Strawberry Point, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022, at his home. He was born on June 12, 1941, in Volga, the son of Stanley and Clara (Otdoerfer) Everitt. Jerry was raised in the Volga area and was a 1959 graduate of Volga High School.

Sandra L. Martin Roys

Sandra Lucille Martin Roys was born on Oct. 4, 1934 to Michael and Vera (Hesner) Martin in Volga. Sandra’s childhood was carefree, enjoying time on the farm. Sandra graduated from Volga High School. She went to Iowa State Teachers College (now known as the University of Northern Iowa) in Cedar Falls. She then was an elementary teacher until she married John Roys. John and Sandra had been high school sweethearts and tied the knot on Aug. 11, 1956.

Anne E. Perry

Anne Elizabeth Perry (Hamilton) departed her earthly life peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, Dec. 12, 2022, at the age of 91. Anne was born on her parents’, Merritt and Florence (Bente) Hamilton’s, farm in Elkader on Feb. 23, 1931. Anne had a love for music, playing piano and alto clarinet and participating in choir. She performed at many special occasions during her time at Elkader High School. Her musical talent led to enrollment at Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) as a music major. Later in her schooling, she changed her major to early childhood education. While a student in college, Anne met Neal Perry from Waterloo.
