Cary O. Turner

Cary O. Turner, 61, of Onalaska, formerly of Prairie du Chien, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Jan. 31, 2020, in Janesville. 

He was born on July 15, 1958, in Boscobel, the son of Richard and Madonna (Hill) Turner. 

Cary was united in marriage to Laurie Conner on Aug. 25, 1986, in Las Vegas, Nev. Cary graduated from Iowa-Grant High School, then attended Southwest Tech in Fennimore, where he obtained his auto body degree. In 1980, after working at several body shops, he started working at Dagnon Motors in Prairie du Chien, where he managed the body shop. In 1988, he started Midwest Auto and successfully operated it for 30 years.

Joseph A. Kolter

Joseph A. Kolter, 76, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died at his home Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020. 

Joe was born in Winona, Minn., April 16, 1943, and grew up in Prairie du Chien, where he attended high school and worked various jobs until entering the military and serving in Korea. He moved to Cedar Rapids and worked as a housing inspector for HACAP until his retirement in 2005.

John B. Meng, 76, of Prairie du Chien, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Jan. 27, 2020, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, of complications from lung and heart disease. 

John was born July 20, 1943, the son of Richard and Dorothea (Williams) Meng. He worked in construction and was an avid sports fan. He loved playing basketball and baseball as a young man. John enjoyed his work as a crossing guard near the B.A. Kennedy Elementary School.

Donald J. Ames and Cleone E. Ames

Donald J. Ames and Cleone E. (Hall) Ames, 80 and 79, of Potosi, passed away within hours of each other surrounded by family on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020, a true testament of their love and devotion to each other after being married for 62 years. 

Donald was born on Nov. 7, 1939, in Detroit, Mich., the son of Bert A. and Gertrude (Fecht) Ames. He graduated from Franklin High School, now Potosi High School, in 1957. 

Cleone was born on March 27, 1940, in Lancaster, the daughter of Guerdon W. and Gila (Marcue) Hall. She graduated from Platteville High School in 1957.
