Doris E. Clark

Doris E. Clark, 87, of Wauzeka, passed away on Thursday Oct. 3, 2019, at home with her loving family by her side. 

She was born on Oct. 19, 1931, in Basswood, the daughter of Myron and Anna Freeda (Hughbanks) Richardson. 

Doris had a varied career history. She was the lead cook at Riverside Supper Club and a production worker at Advance Transformer for many years. Her last position prior to retirement was as a supervisor at a mental health hospital in Meridian, Miss. Doris was a single mother who raised five deeply devoted children. She took great pride in her expertise in the lost arts of knitting, embroidery and crocheting. She especially enjoyed crocheting afghans for wedding and baby gifts. Doris was a fan of classic film noir and western movies, but most of all she loved to visit with her grandchildren.

JoAnne Peters

JoAnne Peters, 72, of Bagley, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019, at the Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. 

She was born on April 26, 1947, in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Mason and Kathryn (Degenhardt) Evans. 

She married Richard Peters on June 5, 1965, at St. Gabriel’s Church in Prairie du Chien. JoAnne worked several years at MPC until her retirement. She enjoyed many hobbies, small projects, traveling, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Charles H. Morel

Charles H. Morel, 89, formerly of Muscoda, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019, at Schmitt Woodland Hills. 

He was born March 26, 1930, in Prairie du Chien, the son of Herman and Mabel (Gokey) Morel. 

Charles served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Theresa Fritsche in Prairie du Chien, and they shared 63 wonderful years together before her passing in 2016. He was a postal clerk and then postmaster serving the Muscoda area for 34 years. 

Charles is survived by children, Steven (Betty), Marilyn Pettit, Michael (Diane) and Cynthia (Michael) Schultz; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He is further survived by sisters, Wanda Stitely, Gloria (Don) Jones; and extended family and friends.

Patricia Mae Dickens, 70, of Prairie du Chien, formerly of McGregor, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, Sept 28, 2019, following a brief illness. 

She was born on June 16, 1949, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Frankie and Bernice (Cavanaugh) Harry.

Leon J. Valley

Leon J. Valley, of Piedmont, Okla., formerly of Prairie du Chien, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019. 

He was born Aug 2, 1944, to Robert E. and Norma G. Valley. Leon joined the Navy shortly after graduating from B.A. Kennedy High School in 1962. He was trained for Submarine Service and was on the USS Kamehameha (a Benjamin Franklin-class ballistic missile submarine). He was stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. After discharge, Leon worked at Control Data in Minneapolis. He eventually transferred to Oklahoma City, were he worked for Seagate Manufacturing in computer technology.

Edward William Fritsche

Edward William Fritsche, 75, of Salinas, Calif. and formerly of Prairie du Chien, passed away Monday, Sept. 16, 2019, in Salinas, Calif. 

He was born Oct. 15, 1943, in Prairie du Chien, son of Edward and Ludmila (Balk) Fritsche. 

He married Patricia Cardine on Sept. 20, 1969, at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien. He lived in California for 39 years. He worked mainly in law enforcement and construction.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; and two sons, Michael (Silvia) and Steven (Jennifer); three grandchildren, Grace, Sean and Joseph; four sisters, Anne (John) Rink, Mary Frydenlund, and Rose (Jerry) Wright of Prairie du Chien, Margaret (Jim) of Trotwood, Ohio.

Francis E. Heisz

Francis E. Heisz, 83, of Prairie du Chien, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Sept. 23, 2019, at his home. 

He was born on May 13, 1936, in Pine Creek, the son of Charles and Evelyn (Garvey) Heisz. Francis married Patricia Kahler, who died in 1999. He married Corrine Hull on Feb. 23, 1981. Frank loved the Brewers, Packers and Badgers. He enjoyed fishing and everything the Mississippi River had to offer. Francis took great pleasure in the Prairie Dog Blues Festival and music and visiting the Villa Louis.

Linda L. Schilter

Linda L. Schilter, 75, of Bagley, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, at Orchard Manor Care Center in Lancaster. 

She was born on Sept. 1, 1944, in Lancaster, the daughter of Willard and Ada Caley. 

Linda married Albert Schilter on Sept. 12, 1980, at the Villa Louis in Prairie du Chien. He preceded her in death on April 5, 1995. 

Linda worked as a CNA at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital for many years until her retirement. She was a member of the Bagley Women’s American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed the outdoors, camping and “God’s little creatures.”

Deb (Trehey) Foster

Deb (Trehey) Foster, loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister, passed away at the age of 65. 

She was born in Seneca, on April 17, 1954. 

Deb will be forever remembered by her husband, Bob; their four wonderful children, Joe (Meghan) Foster, Chuck (Katie) Foster, Kristin (Josh) Pyzik, Jill (Matt) Sears; by her mother, Marilyn Trehey; and her beloved grandchildren, Brynley, Lewis, Weston, Theodore, Helen, Lincoln, Walter and Maelie. Other surviving family members include her siblings, Susie (Albert) Patten, Sandy (John) Davies, David (Nancy) Trehey, Mary Jo (Greg) Palmer, Marcia (Todd) Hanson, Mike (Peg) Trehey; and sister-in-law, Teri (Jim) Off. Deb will also be remembered by the rest of her extended family and many dear friends.
