Daniel Eugene Hird, 56, of Prairie du Chien, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2015 at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien. 

He was born on May 9, 1958 to Eugene and Delores (Coy) Hird in Boscobel. He attended Boscobel High School. 

Daniel worked for Lynch Livestock as a truck driver for 34 years. Daniel was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his friends. He was a member of the Eagle’s Club, Aerie #1502 in Prairie du Chien. 

Daniel is survived by his special friend, Cindy Stoneking of Prairie du Chien; three children, Adam Wood of Irvin, Texas, Jessie Wood of Yuma, Colo. and Cassandra Hird of Hopkinton, Iowa; two step-children, Dennis Stoneking and Travis Helgerson both of Prairie du Chien; three brothers, Dennis (Barb) Hird of Seneca, Donald (Candy) Hird of Woodman, and David (Lorie) Hird of Prairie du Chien; one sister, Deanna (special friend, Charles) Hird of Columbia, Tenn. and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. 

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to thank William and Renee Hampton for all of the support that they have shown the family. 

There are no services planned at this time. 

Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Prairie du Chien, are helping the family with arrangements.
