Roberta M. Marfilius, 79, of Prairie du Chien passed away Monday, Jan. 12, at the Crossing Rivers Hospital. 

She was born July 15, 1935 in Prairie du Chien the daughter of Robert and Carmen (Campbell) Gillitzer. She married Lyle Marfilius on May 5, 1954 at St. Gabriel’s Church. She and her husband farmed in rural Prairie du Chien and were active members of St. Gabriel’s Parish. Roberta was a member of the Farm Bureau and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and most of all spending time with her family. 

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Lyle of Prairie du Chien; her children Bob of Boscobel, Becky (Mick) Rooney of Prairie du Chien, Randy of Evansville, Ind., Rick of Sheboygan, and Rod (Sandy) of Prairie du Chien; her brothers, Don (Carolyn) Gillitzer of Prairie du Chien and Jim (Joan) Gillitzer of Madison; eighteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, Jan. 17, at 1 p.m. at St. Gabriel’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Rev. James Weighner officiating, with interment in the Calvary Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call on Friday, Jan. 16, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Prairie Catholic Schools or the Holy Family Parish.
