Evelyn Marie Sutton, 89, of Seneca Township, died Monday, Jan. 26, at Crossing Rivers Health Center, Prairie du Chien. 

She was born on May 9, 1925 to Lorenzo H. and Iona (Benhart) Sutton in Seneca Township. She attended Dean School in Seneca Township. Evelyn completed a course to be a CNA years after attending Dean School. 

Evelyn worked as a CNA for the Beaumont Hospital in Prairie du Chien, for over 25 years and also at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital in the maternity unit. She lived on the family farm for over 86 years. Evelyn enjoyed going on her daily walk and flower gardening. She could be seen at the farm for hours working with her flowers. That was her favorite pastime. 

Evelyn is survived by her brother, Lorenzo Sutton of Prairie du Chien; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Sutton of Prairie du Chien and Barbara Sutton of Milwaukee; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews, and longtime family friend, Sally “LaVern” White of Prairie du Chien.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dorothy Key; three brothers, Virgil, Alan and Roger Sutton; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn A. Sutton and brother-in-law, Barney Key.

The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, memorials in Evelyn’s honor be made to Coulee Cap Office in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.

A private family funeral service and burial, will be held at a later date.
