Vera Oldfather Rahmiller, 101, of Gladstone, Missouri (formerly of Volga, Iowa), died Friday, January 23, 2015.

A Celebration of Life Service for Vera Rahmiller will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Volga United Methodist Church. A private internment was held at Hillcrest Cemetery, Volga, Iowa.  Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

She was born to the late Frank and Ina (Wilbur) Oldfather, October 11, 1913 on a farm near Volga, Iowa.  Vera graduated from Volga High School in 1929 and received her BA, Magna Cum Laude, in 1960 from Upper Iowa College.  She was married to Howard Rahmiller on June 20, 1936 and they lived their entire married life in or near Volga, Iowa.  Howard preceded her in death on April 7, 1981.  She was also preceded in death by, one son, Frederick, her parents, and three brothers, Eldon, Lynn and Keith and one sister, Ethel.

Vera was a public school teacher for 28 years until she retired in 1978. She also served as secretary to the Board of Education of Volga Public Schools before she resumed her teaching career. She was a Lay Minister for the United Methodist Church and also visited Israel.

Vera was an active member of the Volga United Methodist Church for more than 90 years; the Volga Study Club, Sunshine Club and other civic organizations.

Vera is survived by two children:  Ken (Georgia)  Rahmiller, Gladstone, Missouri and Eldon (Gayle) Rahmiller, Iowa Falls, Iowa.  She also survived by two grandchildren: Ryan (Amanda) Rahmiller, Charles City, Iowa and Brad (Tammy) Rahmiller, Marshalltown, Iowa and one sister Jean Oldfather Blevins of Liberty, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials be made to the Volga United Methodist Church.
