Lorenz Herman Landt, 88, of Luana, Iowa died Thursday, March 12, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Center, Postville, Iowa. Lorenz was born on the family farm in Luana on July 9, 1926 to Herman Henry and Alvina Anna (Mueller) Landt. He was baptized on October 27, 1926, and confirmed on March 29, 1942, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, Iowa. Lorenz received his education at Luana Consolidated School.

Lorenz was united in marriage with LuNida Bertha Hoth on October 10, 1949, at Zion Lutheran Church, Clayton Center.  To this union six children were born: Betty Lou, Mary Ann, Dennis, Roger, Lorna Mae and Loren. Lorenz “Hooter” was a farmer and did carpentry for Great Plains for 17 years. He loved hunting, fishing and playing cards.

Lorenz is survived by his wife, LuNida of Luana; children, Betty Lou (Robert) Handke of Monona, Mary Ann (Richard) Koehn of Monona, Dennis (Sharon) Landt of Monona, Roger Landt of Luana, Lorna Mae (David) Jones of Luana and Loren Landt of Luana; Grandchildren, Shira (Brad) Fedeler, Amy (Brian) Manning, Heidi (Gabe) Feuerhelm, Heath (Chris) Landt, Troy Handke,  Preston (Sophie) Landt and Cindy (Darrin) Brink; great-grandchildren, Caden Fedeler, Carter Fedeler, Carsyn Fedeler, Caesyn Fedeler, Libby Manning, Abby Manning, Chloe Landt, Chelbe Feuerhelm, Chylie Feuerhelm, Trent Landt, Ryne Landt, Derek Handke, Layla Landt, Adalyn Brink and Gracelyn Brink; step grandchildren, Chad (Tess) Koehn and Kristy Koehn; step great grandchildren, Tyler Heying, Jordan (Tyler) Brainard, Aspen Koehn and Hunter Koehn; his brother, Harold Landt and nephews, Harlan “Hank”, Ronald and Dale Werger.

Lorenz was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Alvina Landt; sister, Amanda Werger and daughter-in-law, Mary Landt.

Visitation was on Sunday, March 15, 2015, from 2-5 p.m. at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona, Iowa and one hour before services at the church on Monday.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 16, 2015, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, with Rev. Harold McMillin as the officiant. Burial followed at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Luana.

Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona, Iowa assisted the family with arrangements.
