More than 75 at Shamrock Shuffle

Prairie du Chien’s Second Annual Shamrock Shuffle 5k Fun Run-Walk was again a success. The event motivated more than 75 people to begin their St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in a heart-healthy and family-friendly way.

For the second year in a row, Patrick Klein of Prairie du Chien completed the 3.1 miles first, in an astonishing 15 minutes and 14 seconds. Ashley Krantz of Lancaster was then the first female to cross the finish line in 21 minutes and 4 seconds. Finishing first in the 17 and under category was Carver Bentien, 8, of Monona, in 27 minutes and 40 seconds.

The event raised more than $350 for the Hoffman Hall Improvement Fund and more than 100 pounds of non-perishable food items were donated to the Crawford County Food Pantry.

The following are greatly appreciated for their donated time, supplies and participant prizes: The Prairie du Chien Park and Recreation Department, the Prairie du Chien Police Department, Wal-Mart, Kwik Trip, McDonald’s, Fort Mulligans, Prairie Cinema, Driftless Edibles, O’Reilly’s, Leisure Time Sports Bar and Dyesport. Further acknowledgment goes to the following individuals for their time and enthusiasm for this community event: Pat Stanton, Cassie Hubanks, Kristina Linde, Kelly Mullen, Aaron Lyons, Chris Mara and Patti Vanden Heuvel.

Remember to keep your green attire close by; you’ll want it for next year’s Shuffle!
