Prairie du Chien, WI /Garnavillo, IA

Marcella D. “Marcy” Lenth age 83 of Prairie du Chien and formerly of Garnavillo passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse, WI after a brief illness.  She was born November 28, 1931 in rural Monona, IA the daughter of Frank and Emma (Havlicek) Lestina.  She attended country school and was a graduate of Monona High School.  She married Arnold Lenth on November 21, 1957 at the First Lutheran Church in Waterloo, IA.  Together they farmed near Garnavillo where she enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening. He preceded her in death on June 2, 2009.  Marcy worked as a library assistant for the Garnavillo Community School and was active in the Farm Bureau Women’s Group and other community activities.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and was known for her feisty spirit and her affinity for giving advice to her daughters.  She is survived by her daughters, Jane Strangstalien of LaCrosse, Janelle (Dean) Konrardy of Durango, IA and Jolene Lenth of Madison, WI, her sister June Looney of Prairie du Chien, WI, three grandchildren; Nathan and Ellyn Konrardy and Alysha Strangstalien, step grandchildren Jessica and Jason (Katie) Strangstalien.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant daughter, her brothers, Raymond, James, Charles and Thomas Lestina along with her sisters, Helen Stickfort, Donna Mae Martie, Irene Ambrose, Stasia Lestina and Loretta Tesar along with her son in law Dan Strangstalien.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Prairie du Chien with Rev. Joe Irvin officiating.  Interment will be in the Garnavillo City Cemetery in Garnavillo, IA.  Friends may call at the church on Saturday, April 11, 2015 from 9:30 AM until the time of services.  The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.  On line condolences may be shared at www.garrityfuneralhome.com
