Taylor Redman

Dani Boland

Seneca High School has announced its valedictorian as Taylor Redman and salutatorian as Dani Boland.

Taylor Redman is the daughter of Jeffery and Kimberely Redman, of Seneca. She plans to attend the University of La Crosse this fall for physician assistant studies.

“I am ready to begin the next chapter in my life,” she said. “I enjoy working with people and am excited to focus on my future career in the medical field.”

Academically, Taylor has been a highest honors (4.0) student throughout her high school career. She has been student of the month and was a Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award recipient.

She has been an FFA member since 2011 and served in the offices of sentinel, vice-president and is currently president. She has also participated in SHARE (Students Helping Area Resistance Efforts), National Honor Society, PALS (People Actively Linked to Students), Business Club, S-Club, was a member of the yearbook staff and the forensics team, participating in state in 2013 and 2015.

Taylor has excelled in sports also. She has been a four-year letter winner in volleyball, basketball and softball. She made all-conference in all three sports in 2013, 2014 and 2015. She was named 2014-2015 Ridge and Valley Player of the Year for the Indian basketball team and was also selected as a player on the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Division 5 South All-Star team. Taylor was a captain of the volleyball and basketball teams as well.

While keeping busy at school, Taylor has not missed out on contributing within the community of Seneca. She has volunteered at the church bazaar, was an umpire of little league summer games, is a Seneca Wings and Racks member, painted community benches and curbs at church, cleaned at church, participated in food drives, served as a student tutor, served at the Lions Club pancake breakfasts, helped with Easter egg hunt and Christmas activities, volunteered at the wild game feed, and volunteered at Seneca Community Club activities.

As she prepares to graduate, Taylor provided the following advice for underclassmen, “Work hard and have fun, as the four years of high school go by fast.”

Dani Boland is the daughter of Sean and Jennifer Boland, of rural Seneca. She will  attend UW-Richland Center this fall and is undecided about her major at this time.

“I’m excited to be on my own and to take life into my own hands,” she said. “I’m looking forward to starting the next chapter of my life and to be able to start over on a clean slate. There are hundreds of different directions I could go and am looking forward to discovering the path that I am meant to follow.”

Throughout her academic career, Dani has been named to the Ridge and Valley all-conference first academic team and has achieved highest honors consistently. She has participated in SHARE, NHS, PALS, State Battle of Book and FFA, in which she served as reporter last school year and treasurer this year.

In addition, Dani was on the volleyball and softball teams for one year each.

Outside of school, Dani is employed at Don Boland’s dairy farm and has had community service experience through the Seneca Lion’s Club, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Seneca Elementary Fall Festival.
Dani said her favorite class in high school was business marketing enterprise her sophomore year. Her favorite teachers have been Mr. Connors or Mr. Hamann. The most challenging class for Dani was AP U.S. History.

When asked for advice to underclassmen, Dani had plenty. She said, “The majority of the things you will do and go through in high school are only temporary. It will not be long before you look back and laugh at the things you once thought were a big deal and realize how small of a problem they really were. It is up to you on how you let them affect you. The gossip, rumors and drama will not follow you after high school, but your grades and involvement, memories and relationships will. Make the most out of high school because it does not last forever.”
