Filing is now open for candidates seeking city offices in the Nov. 3 election. In Guttenberg, two city council seats, two park board positions and three seats on the hospital board are up for election.

On the city council, the terms of Jane Parker and Virginia Saeugling are expiring at the end of the year. Also up for election are the seats of park board members Jim Johnston and Mary Streich and hospital board members Mary Eulberg, Penny Hansel and Bill Allyn.

The city council terms are for two years; the park board and hospital board terms are for four years.

Copies of nomination papers are available at the city clerk’s office, the Clayton County Auditor’s office, or on the Secretary of State’s website: http://sos.iowa.gov/elections/electioninfo/CityElections.html. Candidates must complete an affidavit of candidacy and a nomination petition.

Deadline to file is 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17. Papers must be filed at the County Auditor's office.
