Dennis D. “Borgie” Bahr
Dennis D. “Borgie” Bahr, 64, of Waukon, Iowa, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, at his home in Waukon.
Dennis Donald “Borgie” Bahr was born Nov. 10, 1950, in Waukon, Iowa, the son of Donald and Elaine (Thomson) Bahr. He graduated from St. Patrick Catholic High School in 1968 and served in the National Guard for six years. On Nov. 4, 1978, he married Irene Kriston at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon. After they were married they lived in Gillette, Wyo., for a couple of years before moving back to Waukon in 1980. Borgie and Irene moved to Prairie du Chien, in 1999, then returned to Waukon in 2013. He worked for Waste Management in Prairie du Chien for over 40 years before retiring in 2014. Borgie and Irene owned and operated the Pour House in Waukon for several years.
He was a member of Whitetails Unlimited and Knights of Columbus St. Matthew’s Council 1570. Borgie enjoyed hunting, golfing, and farming with his brothers Dave and Dani. He loved spending time with his family and friends especially playing with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Irene of Waukon; his son Don (Leisha) Bahr of Decorah and their two daughters, Ava and Abby; his mother Elaine Bahr of Waukon; two brothers, David (Rhonda) Bahr and Dani (Janice) Bahr; and a sister Linda (Bill) Cook, all of Waukon; and five sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law and their families. He is preceded in death by his father Donald.
Honorary casketbearers are Borgie’s hunting and golfing buddies.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon surrounded by his family
