The Green Bay Packers hosted a Youth Football Outreach Camp the afternoon of Tuesday, Oct. 27, for students at River Ridge Elementary in Patch Grove. The camp was from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and had approximately 150 students in second through fourth grade participating.

Former Packer running back Tony Fisher, who is the team’s player-alumni coordinator, was there to help students enjoy the camp, along with Packer Youth Football Coordinator Tim Schroeder.

The Green Bay Packers Youth Football Outreach Camp program, coordinated in conjunction with the NFL Play 60 program, provides boys and girls the opportunity to test their football skills in various drills and obstacle courses. Students rotated through five drill stations including a relay race, kicking a ball, throwing a pass, leaping for a catch and diving for a touchdown.

The NFL Play 60 campaign is designed to tackle childhood obesity by getting kids active through in-school, after-school and team-based programs.

Representatives of the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board were also on hand for the event. The WMMB’s Fuel Up to Play 60 is a complementary program and milk was provided for students after the camp.

Fisher played for the Packers from 2002-2005. Schroeder said that River Ridge was the 13th stop this fall for the Packers Outreach Camp which promotes playing at least 60 minutes per day.
