James “Jim” Moose, 55, of Monona, Iowa died on Saturday, January 23, 2016, at Veteran’s Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. James Ernest was born on December 11, 1960, to Albert and Marilyn (Timmerman) Moose in Waukon. He was baptized July 16, 1961, at Pilgrim EUB Church in Monona. He was confirmed April 7, 1974, at Garden City United Methodist Church in Monona. He graduated from MFL High School in 1979. Jim was united in marriage with Lesa Reimer on September 21, 1985, at Peace United Church of Christ in Elkader, Iowa. Two sons were born to this union, Jarred and Jordan.  

Jim was happiest when he was working on the farm and was proud of his accomplishments, especially figuring out how to fix things, create things, and repair whatever needed fixing.  Jim enjoyed rebuilding and restoring John Deere tractors. Farming was Jim’s passion. He loved everything about farming and enjoyed working from sun up to sun down. Jim enjoyed tending to his cattle; it was one of the passions he shared with his wife and sons. He was a member of the Waterville Fire Department for over twenty years and was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church in Monona.

 

Jim is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Lesa Moose of Monona; two sons, Jarred (Shelby) Moose of Monona and Jordan (Dana) Moose of Waterville; one grandson, Cecil James Moose; his mother, Marilyn Moose of Monona; three brothers, Leland Moose of Monona, Richard (Debbie) Moose of Monona and Douglas (Kelly) Moose of Luana; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gerald and Arlene Reimer of Elkader; as well as many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and cousins. 

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Albert Moose in 1998; his paternal and maternal grandparents; and nephew, Bill Moose in 2009.

Visitation was Wednesday, January 27, 2016, from 2-8 p.m. at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona, and one hour before services at the church on Thursday.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2016, at Living Faith United Methodist Parish, Monona, Iowa, with Rev. Kim A. Gates as the officiant.

Burial will follow in Smithfield Cemetery, rural Monona, Iowa.
