Evelyn B. Seeley died February 26, 2016, at the Great River Care Center in McGregor, IA, after an extended illness. She was born October 15, 1933, to Alfred and Anne (Maly) Sawall in Ottumwa, IA, and adopted by Louis and Bertha (Cabalka) Blaha of Cedar Rapids, IA.  

Evelyn graduated from Wilson High School and Coe College. She and James W. Seeley were married June 2, 1957.  Evelyn was a teacher and choir director and very active in her churches. She had a passion for music, gardening, birds, and her many dogs.

She wwas preceded in death by her parents and two sisters. She is survived by husband Jim; children, Sarah Seeley, and her husband, Tom Mitzel; Mark and Christine (Gallagher) Seeley; and Carrie Seeley (Daryl Baade); three grandchildren, William, Collin, and Lydia Seeley; three step-grandchildren Sadie, Luke, and Paige; and four step-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations for the Rivers and Bluffs Animal Shelter may be sent to the family. 

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at Great River Care Center, McGregor.
