Jaleen Lillian (Geuder) Smock Fassbinder passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at the Guttenberg Care Center.

Visitation was Friday, March 4, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg, and one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services were Saturday, March 5, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Guttenberg, conducted by Rev. Shane Anderson.

Interment was at Mt. Harmony Cemetery, Elkport.

Jaleen was born on Dec. 13, 1932, to John and Ilo (Walke) Geuder in Guttenberg.

Jaleen was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Guttenberg and was confirmed at Peace Evangelical Church in Elkader. She graduated from Guttenberg High School in 1950 and was united in marriage to Bentley (Pete) Smock on Dec. 27, 1950. This marriage blessed them with three children. Bentley Smock passed away on Sept. 4, 1971. On July 3, 1973, Jaleen married Gerald Fassbinder who was the father of four children, Jerry, Jeff, Jolene and Judy. Gerald died on May 27, 1997. 

Jaleen worked in various restaurants for many years. She was a 4-H leader, member of Delhi American Legion Auxiliary and St. John’s Choir. 

Those left to cherish her memory are Jaleen’s children, Brenda (Gene) Hansel, Bradley (Sheila) Smock and Barbara (Mark) Meyer; 10 grandchildren, Lisa, Tracy, Lori, Melony, Eric, Mindy, Phillip, Justin, Austin and Bradley Jr; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald Geuder and John (Betty) Geuder Jr.; sister-in-law, Jerri Geuder and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Douglas and Merlin Geuder.

In lieu of flowers and all styles of sympathy, memorials may be sent to either Mt. Harmony Cemetery or to help with muscular dystrophy.
