beat Seneca and
Wauzeka-Steuben
The River Ridge-Cassville softball team played a doubleheader against two area teams Tuesday afternoon in Patch Grove.
In the opener, RRC bested Seneca 12-8. Seneca led 2-1 after one complete inning.
Seneca scored again in the top of the second to take a 3-1 advantage.
RRC rallied for 8 big runs in the bottom of the third inning to gain the lead at 9-3.
Seneca scored a run in the top of the fourth, but RRC answered with 3 in the bottom half to increase the margin to 12-4.
Seneca scored a run in the fifth, 2 in the sixth and 1 in the seventh to close to within 12-8 but RRC took the win.
Andrea Okey was the winning pitcher. She fanned 4 and walked 2 in 7 innings.
Haley Wall whiffed 4 and walked 6 in 3 innings in the loss.
Okey was 2x3 for River Ridge-Cassville.
Emily Garfoot was 2x5 with a double for Seneca. Michelle Clark was 2x4. Kennedi Smith was 2x4 with a double. Wall hit a double. Alivia Salinas doubled. Becky Trautsch hit a double.
In the nightcap, River Ridge-Cassville defeated Wauzeka-Steuben 6-1.
RRC scored 2 runs in the bottom of the second and 1 in the third to grab a 3-0 lead.
Each team scored a run in the fourth as RRC led 4-1.
RRC scored 2 more runs in the sixth inning and held Wauzeka-Steuben in the top of the seventh to take the victory.
Andrea Okey picked up the win. She struck out 11 and walked only 1 in 7 innings.
Siena Krachey whiffed 3 and walked 5 in 6 innings in the loss.
Okey was 2x4 with a double for RRC. Lexi Harper was 2x4.
Jadyn Sander was 2x3 with a double for Wauzeka-Steuben.
