Roy Wilhelm “Bud” Jamesen Jr., 88, of McGregor, Iowa died Sunday, May 8, at Crossing Rivers Health Center, Prairie du Chien. 

Bud was the son of Roy Wilhelm Jamesen Sr. and Patricia Rose (Stanton) Jamesen and was born on Jan. 15, 1928 in St. Paul, Minn. He graduated from White Bear Lake High School in 1944. He earned his degree in meteorology in Omaha, Neb. Bud served in the United States Air Force enlisting after high school in 1944 in St. Paul, Minn. He was a military meteorologist in the Korean War and flew F4 Phantoms during Vietnam. He honorably retired from the military as a Major on July 15, 1966 after twenty-two years of service to his country. After his years of service, he managed the Cedar Rapids Airport for nineteen years and the Waterloo Airport for two years. 

Bud was united in marriage with Irene Beverly Medinger in 1952 at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Three children were born to this union, a daughter, Carol and a two sons, Roy Wilhelm “Sandy” III and Randy. Bud was united in marriage with Christine Jo Dennis in 1970 at West Minister Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids. 

Bud retired from the Cedar Rapids Airport in 1987. He was interim-mayor of McGregor, Iowa. Bud enjoyed duck hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, boating, snowmobiling, flying hot air balloons, golfing and having a beer and a good storytelling sessions with his friends. He also loved dogs, especially black labs. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriners and the Jesters. He also spent time visiting children in the hospital with the Shriners. 

Bud is survived by his three children, Carol (Andy) Rees of Weatherford, Texas, Roy Wilhelm “Sandy” Jamesen III of Golden, Colo. and Randy Jamesen of Calgary, Alberta; ex-wife, Christine Jo Jamesen of McGregor, Iowa; four grandchildren, Drew (Tracy) Rees of Dallas, Ore., Jason (Christie) Rees of Knoxville, Tenn., Amanda Maria (Dustin) Horne of Weatherford, Texas and Riley Jamesen of Calgary, Alberta; seven great-grandchildren and three nieces, Lynn, Jill and Cory.

Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Irene in 2002; his parents, Roy Sr. and Patricia and two brothers, Tommy Jamesen in 1944 and Jack Jamesen in 1996.
