Elmer Dirksen
Elmer Dirksen, 85, of Eastman passed away Thursday, May 19, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, after a brief illness.
He was born Aug. 19, 1930 in Lennox, S.D. the son of Henry and Fannie (Mundhenke) Dirksen. He married Mary Ann Kelly on Feb. 7, 1957 in Bryant, S.D. Elmer loved farming and tending animals. He was a good mechanic and enjoyed fishing. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be sadly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Ann Dirksen of Eastman; his sons, Gordon (Jen) of Waukesha, and Matthew (Danielle) of Green Bay; his brothers, Jerry of DeWitt, Iowa and Melvin of LeClaire, Iowa; along with his grandchildren, Aiden, Brook, Dane, Brady, Justin, Tanner and Tyler. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Hank and two infant brothers, Henry and Elmer.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 24, at 11 a.m. at the Bible Baptist Church in Prairie du Chien, Pastor Andy Doll officiating, with burial in the National Cemetery in Eastman. Friends may call on Monday, May 23, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien and at the church on Tuesday, from 10 until the time of services.
