Roland F. Welsch III, 15, of Johnson Creek, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 29, 2016.

He was born on May 28, 2001 in Madison, the son of Roland Jr. and Kim (Geisler) Welsch.

He was a freshman at Jefferson High School, where he was very active in football, pep-band, marching band and trap shooting. He was a member of the history bowl and Jazz ii band along with Middle School Investors Club. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family. Roland’s most recent trip was to the Texas panhandle hunting wild hogs where he bagged his first wild hog. Roland was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Johnson Creek, where he was confirmed on May 17, 2015.

He will be greatly missed by his parents, Roland and Kim and his brother, Spencer, all of Johnson Creek; grandparents Diane and Larry Geisler of Monona, Iowa, great-grandmother Mildred Lyons of Ossian, Iowa, aunts and uncles Barbara Kaye (Fred) Grelle of Cross Plains, Sheri (Russ) Hampton of Horicon, Deanna (Todd) Haberichter of Bagley, Pam (Dan) Havlicek of Monona, Iowa, Alicia (Steve) Fuller of Coal Valley Ill., and Jeremy (Tonya) Geisler of Ossian Iowa. Host of cousins Kristen Pelkowski, Rick (Amy) Grelle, Craig (Sara Wilderman) Hampton, Dawn Hampton, CJ (Jess) Doerring, Daisha Doerring with her fiance (Bryan Beaty) Aspen and Max Havlicek, Trey, Madyson, and Clare Courtney, and Serenity Geisler. Edward (Lee) Tesar and Sidney Welsch. Along with a host of many other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Roland and Barbara Welsch; great-grandparents Lester Lyons, Lucille and Ray Boss, John and Mary Welsch and great aunts Danella Pascoe and Mildred Tesar.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 129 N. Watertown St., Johnson Creek, with Rev. Matthew Smith-Laubenstein officiating. Visitation will be Friday, June 3, 2016, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Schneider-Michaelis Funeral Home, 900 W. Racine St., Jefferson. And then again at the church on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be given to the charity of your choice.
