Glen  L. Gottschalk, 69, of Burlington, died at 7:15 PM Monday, August 8, 2016, at The University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.

Born March 2, 1947, in Elkader, IA, he was the son of Elmer J. and Leona A. Gusta Gottschalk. On April 22, 1972, he married Deborah “Debbie”  Hayes in Maquoketa, IA. 

Glen was a manager for Kinney Shoes for over 20 years, worked in retail sales at JCPenney and prepared taxes at H&R Block.

He earned his bachelor’s of business administration at the University of Iowa.

He loved his church and was a member of Zion United Church of Christ. He enjoyed golf, Iowa Hawkeye football, wrestling, and basketball. He loved spending time with his family, attending concerts, shows, municipal band concerts, fixing things, and gardening.  

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Caroline “Carrie” (Jeffrey) Stout of Charlottesville, VA, Rachel (Peter) Rugg of Davenport; two grandchildren, Catherine & Elizabeth Stout both of Charlottesville, VA; one sister, Elaine Grimes of Decorah; one brother, Don (Sara) Gottschalk of Cedar Falls; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins..

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Jack Grimes.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh-Thielen Crematory.

Visitation was from 12 noon until 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, August 12, at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home.

The memorial service for Mr. Gottschalk was at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 13, at Zion United Church of Christ with Reverend Brice Hughes officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the church following the service.

Memorials have been established for Zion United Church of Christ, Burlington Municipal Band and Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy Research Center.
