Dennis Ray “Bud” Moose, 56, of McGregor, died Tuesday, Feb. 28, at his home. 

 

Dennis was born on Oct. 31, 1960, to Hubert and Betty (Moses) Moose in Prairie du Chien, Wis. He graduated from Garnavillo High School in 1979.

 

Bud was united in marriage with Karen Brooks on Sept. 10, 1983, at United Methodist Church in McGregor. From this marriage were two children, Barb and Tim. They later divorced. Dennis was united in marriage with Melody Zinkle on Aug. 22, 2009, at Pikes Peak State Park in Clayton County. From this marriage is one daughter, SaFire.

 

Bud worked as a barge loader for Pattison Sand in Clayton and Bunge in McGregor. He also worked as an Aide for G and G Living Center. He was an avid outdoorsmen that enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. He loved dancing to the Jam with his wife, Mel, on Sundays at Josie’s River Queen “Sunday Funday” Dennis was a member of a dart league, pool league and the bar bowling league, where he met Mel.

 

Bud is survived by his wife, Melody “Mel” Moose, of McGregor; his children, Barb (Russ Helle) Moose, of Guttenberg, Tim Moose, of Garnavillo, ‘Tessa (Joshua Honeywell) Zinkle, of Monona, Jaydanne (Devon Chadeayne) Oswald, of Colorado, Brianna (Justin Jones) Fields, of Postville, and SaFire Zinkle, of McGregor; eleven grandchildren, Aiden, Iliauna, Kaiya, Kolton, Kynzli, Cameron, Dawson, Brooklyn, Wesley, Monroe and Cyrus; his mother, Betty Moose, of Garnavillo; father-in-laws, Bill Halverson, of McGregor; Terry Zinkle, of Prairie du Chien; siblings, Randy (Margie Wermuth) Moose, of Garnavillo, Debbie (Mark Rodenberg) Eilers-Lange, of McGregor, Cathy (Mike) Lames, of Collinsville, Okla., and Dave (Jane) Moose, of Farmersburg.

 

Bud was preceded in death by his father, Hubert Moose; and mother-in-law, Winnie O’Brien-Halverson.

 

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 3, at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in McGregor, with a Eulogy to follow at 6 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at Josie’s River Queen in McGregor, at a later date. Inurnment will be held at Clayton Cemetery, Clayton, at a later date. Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, of McGregor, is helping the family with arrangements.
