Robert Havlicek, 80, of Monona, died Wednesday, March 8, at the Good Samaritan Society, in Postville. 

 

Robert was born to Frank and Agnes (Miller) Havlicek on Dec. 18, 1936, in Giard. Robert was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona in 1957. He attended Monona High School. 

Robert was united in marriage with Karen Schroeder on Oct. 5, 1956, at St. John Lutheran Church in Farmersburg. Bob took over the family trucking business that his father, Frank Havlicek started in 1945, and continued the business until 2014. He enjoyed driving truck and spending time with family at the cabin on the Mississippi River.

 

Robert is survived by his wife, Karen Havlicek, of Monona; two children, Sally Cook, of Monona, and Dan (Pam) Havlicek, of Monona; six grandchildren, Dawn (Kevin) Wedo, Crystal (Jeremy Snell) Christopher, Shane Wedo, Kenny (Destiny) Christianson, Aspen Havlicek and Max Havlicek; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Eileen Page, of Harpers Ferry.

 

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Agnes Havlicek; and one daughter, Cindy Wedo, on Feb. 15, 1998.

 

Visitation will be Sunday, March 12, from 2 to 5 p.m., at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the church on Monday. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 13, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, with Rev. Ericka Kielstrup as the Officiant. Burial will be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Monona, at a later date. Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
