PdC wrestlers second
at the Dells Duals Classic
On Saturday, Dec. 9, the Prairie du Chien wrestlers traveled to Wisconsin Dells for the Dells Duals Classic. The Dells Duals Classic is a 25-team tournament, putting each team in a five-team pool based upon different criteria.
This year, the Blackhawks were in Pool B, which is the second highest pool to be in. In Round 1, PdC would square off against a Division 1 school, Reedsburg, and get the victory 57-23. PdC had five falls in this match, recorded by Jerrod Osterkamp, Matt Rogge, Blake Garcia, Traeton Saint, and Nick Rogge. In Round 2, PdC would dismantle Portage, another Division 1 school, by the score of 78-3, with 10 of our wrestlers securing a fall. In Round 3, PdC would beat fellow Division 2 school Wisconsin Dells 64-9, with another five falls and also a major decision. In Round 4, PdC would meet the #4-ranked team in Division 3, St. Croix Falls. PdC would drop this match to a very good team 38-25. Reid Koenig and Blake Garcia each pinned their opponent. In Round 5, PdC would wrestle yet another Division 1 school, Kimberly. PdC would win 61-18, with nine falls to finish the day with four wins and one loss.
The Blackhawks, as individuals, had 52 wins and 18 losses. Of the 52 wins, 31 were by fall. Five PdC wrestlers would finish the day with perfect records: Blake Garcia, Traeton Saint, Nick Rogge, Stephen Ronnfeldt, and Colten Wall. Other highlights on the day included PdC wrestlers beating ranked wrestlers. Bradyn Saint, Reid Koenig, Nick Rogge, Tyler Smock, and Stephen Ronnfeldt all beat ranked opponents, with Ronnfeldt beating two ranked opponents on the day.
Prairie du Chien will host Belmont/Platteville on Thursday evening at 7:00 in the SWC Conference opener. It will also be Parent’s Night.
