Dorothy Clare Lutz, 99, a resident of the Guttenberg Care Center and formerly of Vinton, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, following an extended illness.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Dorothy Baum was born April 24, 1918, in rural Benton County to Dewey and Ethel (Donley) Baum. She was united in marriage to Marion G. Lutz on May 14, 1938. They farmed north of Keystone for many years.

Dorothy enjoyed tending to her flower beds, cooking, knitting, crocheting and playing music on the piano and organ.

She is survived by her son, Larry (Mary) Lutz of Guttenberg; two granddaughters, Brigitte (John) Drew of Natick, Mass. and Amy (Michael) Ripp of Huxley, and three great-grandchildren, Jack and David Drew and Brenna Ripp.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Donald Lutz; grandson, Eric Lutz and brothers, Dean and Donald Baum.
