James Albert Horstman, 76, of Davenport, died Thursday, March 8, 2018, surrounded by his family.

Visitation was Monday, March 12, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg, and one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services were Tuesday, March 13, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Colesburg, conducted by Rev. John Haugen.

Interment was at Bolsinger Cemetery, Colesburg.

Jim was born on Feb. 28, 1942, the son of Martin and Ellen (Petsche) Horstman Sr. 

Jim graduated from the Garnavillo High School and later received his associates degree from Northeast Iowa Community College. On July 7, 1962, James was united in marriage with Ruth Bolsinger in Garber. This union blessed them with five children. For over 20 years, James worked for Mother Hubbard’s Convenient Store. Jim’s family was his passion and he cherished all the time spent with his wife, children and grandchildren. 

Jim will be forever loved and cherished by his wife of 55 years, Ruth; children, Irvin (Rebecca) Horstman, Kenneth (Viana) Horstman, Lee Horstman, Marsha Foss and Kevin Horstman; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ramona (Scylvan) Bahls and Shirley (Mark) Davies and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; great-granddaughter, Alyssa Hillery; brother and sister-in-law, Martin (Charlene) Horstman Jr.; and niece Cynthia Kriesler.
